As part of the ‘Charlas con café y piñonate 2024’ programme, organised by Jimena de la Frontera council’s Tourism Department, there will be a talk called ‘La Arqueología de la Memoria. Las fosas de Jimena de la Frontera’ in the events room at the Casa de la Memoria La Sauceda on Thursday 5 December at 7pm.
The talk will be given by archaeologist Jesús Román Roman, an expert in the field of exhumations of mass graves and Francoist repression in Andalucía. As well as those carried out in the old cemetery in the castle in Jimena in 2020 and 2021, he has been involved in similar projects at the San José cemetery in Cádiz (2016), La Soledad in Huelva (2017 and 2021), La Salud in Córdoba (2019) and the Pico Reja mass grave in the San Fernando cemetery in Seville city (2020-2022).
