Thanks to an agreement with the Cádiz provincial council’s Historical and Democratic Memory Department, which is run by vice-president Javier Vidal, hundreds of books relating to Historical Memory which had been in storage are now at the Casa de la Memoria and have been sorted and classified by our librarian, Juanma Pizarro, and other colleagues.
This is an extraordinary opportunity, not only to boost the content of our library, but also for us to donate copies of books to libraries, cultural centres and memorialist associations who would like some.
Altogether there are 825 copies of 189 different books. Of these, 90 will now form part of our library, which is part of the Network of Specialist Libraries of Andalucía (Red IDEA) and contains almost 7,000 books. Of the remainder, a few will be available to purchase from our small bookshop in the Casa de la Memoria, and the rest will be donated.
